  • First kanji "Hon": Book, base, root, origin, essence, true

  • 2nd kanji "Sha": Person, human being

  • 3rd kanji "Ze": This, just, right, be

  • 4th kanji "Sho": Just, correct, improve

Cho ku rei

The Cho Ku Rei symbol, also known as the "Symbol of Power," is one of the most important symbols in Reiki practice. It is often depicted as a spiral unwinding from a vertical line, with three inward rotations. This symbol is used to channel and amplify universal energy, directing it toward intentions of healing, protection, or balance.

In a Reiki context, Cho Ku Rei is primarily used to activate or intensify energy in a specific area of the body or aura, thus allowing for a more powerful energy flow. It is often described as a "switch" that turns on or boosts universal energy.

Its design is often interpreted as a combination of a wavy line, representing the union of the conscious and subconscious mind, and a straight line, symbolizing the connection to universal energy. This symbol is used to restore balance between the mental and emotional realms, making it an essential tool in Reiki practice.

In Reiki, the Sei He Ki symbol is used to address emotional blockages, traumas, and negative thoughts, bringing about profound inner healing. It acts as a bridge between body and mind, facilitating the release of repressed emotions and promoting inner harmony. It is a symbol that helps align the mind and emotions, thereby enhancing mental and emotional clarity.

The Flower of Life

The Flower of Life is a sacred geometric symbol made up of intersecting circles that form a harmonious and repeating pattern. It is present in many spiritual and ancient traditions around the world, representing the fundamental laws of the universe and the interconnectedness of all things. This motif is often seen as a universal symbol of creation, perfection, and unity.

Structure and Meaning: The Flower of Life is formed from several equal circles, arranged to create a hexagonal pattern reminiscent of a flower. This geometric design is highly symbolic. Each circle symbolizes a part of the Whole, interconnected with the others, emphasizing the idea that everything in the universe is connected. It is also considered a representation of the structure of space and time, as well as a fundamental model of creation.

In spiritual terms, the Flower of Life is often associated with concepts such as sacred geometry, connection to the universal source, and spiritual development. It embodies symmetry, harmony, and balance—qualities that practitioners of disciplines like yoga and Reiki seek to cultivate in their practice and daily lives.

In yoga and Reiki, the Flower of Life can be used as a visual or meditative aid to enhance concentration and introspection. Its geometric pattern helps harmonize energies and raise vibrations, promoting the alignment of the subtle bodies and chakras. In a yoga or Reiki studio, it can serve as a symbol of harmony and energetic protection, creating a sacred space conducive to healing.

The caduceus

The caduceus is an ancient symbol, often associated with medicine, but it also holds profound significance in Reiki and yoga, particularly in relation to the balance of vital energies and spiritual healing. This symbol, consisting of a staff entwined with two serpents and surmounted by wings, is often confused with the Rod of Asclepius (which has only one serpent and is the official symbol of medicine). The caduceus, however, has a more esoteric dimension and symbolizes spiritual energy in motion, as well as the balance between opposing forces.

In the context of Reiki and yoga, the caduceus can be interpreted as a symbol of energetic balance, representing the union of masculine and feminine energies, yin and yang, or the material and spiritual aspects of the human being. The two serpents entwined around the staff symbolize the body's main energy channels, often called Ida (lunar, feminine channel) and Pingala (solar, masculine channel) in yoga.

These channels run along each side of the spine and wind around the Sushumna, the central channel through which spiritual energy (or kundalini) flows. In this context, the caduceus is a perfect representation of the rising of kundalini, this dormant energy which, once awakened, travels up the spine to activate the chakras and awaken consciousness.

The Pentacle

The pentacle is an ancient symbol, often associated with harmony and the balance of the elements. In spiritual practices such as yoga and Reiki, it is seen as a tool for protection and connection to universal energy. The pentacle, a five-pointed star inscribed within a circle, represents the five fundamental elements: earth, water, fire, air, and spirit. It symbolizes the union of body and mind, matter and energy, and invites inner balance and spiritual alignment, thus promoting overall well-being.
